Update on Makia!

We just wanted to send along the a quick update and current picture of Makia!  She’s doing great and still very enthusiastic about school. She’s now in Junior Secondary School 3 (so year 9 equivalent) and loving it! Doesn’t she look so grown up?! It would be amazing if we can continue to support her.

As always she and FA send their love and are so grateful.

You can provide support by clicking the 'donate' button on the right side, or contacting Laura directly.

Thank you!

School is Going Great!

Dear Nasio Foundation Supporters,

I hope you are all well, and sorry for the long silence! It has been a challenging year so far. FA’s compound had a very serious fire in May, and most of the houses and belongings completely ruined. Thankfully the family are all well and weren’t hurt, but it has been tough.

With some incredibly generous donations from family and friends - we are now rebuilding this home! Thank you to those of you that were able to donate, and who send their love and best wishes! We are all grateful beyond words!

So, who needs some good news??! Makia is doing very well and passed her last school year with flying colors! She did particularly well in Maths and Business studies - and has already started in her new class! She is still loving school! As you can see, she’s grown loads too....

Nasio is also doing well too! Alongside doing his welding apprenticeship, he has been helping with the rebuild of the compound which has been a huge help!

We are keen to continue supporting the both of them: Makia with her school fees, and Nasio through his apprenticeship course. Your contributions go a long
way!  You can contribute directly to Laura or Jason, or by clicking on the 'donate' button on the right side of this page.

As always, we are all so appreciative of any support.

Thank you again.

Back to School!

Hello Nasio Foundation supporters,

We hope this finds you well.

We’re writing to share the good news with you, that Makia has passed her end of primary school exams with flying colors, and is very excited to be moving up to Vine Memorial Secondary School later this year. She loves reading and has been doing particularly well in English. Here is a picture of her - she’s now 12 years old and very grown up!

Nasio is also doing well, although currently recovering from quite a bad case of malaria. He was in hospital for a few days, but with support from FA and this foundation, has been well looked after and is doing a lot better. Once back to 100%, Nasio will return to his apprenticeship in Welding, which he is enjoying. He’ll be turning 17 this November and is so tall! When I visited last year I nearly walked straight past him as I didn’t recognize him!

Satu has moved from FA’s compound and is living with some of her other family that are now in Freetown. She has decided not to go on to secondary school and is looking for work. She is doing well and still passes by and see’s FA and the family when she has the chance!

As always, FA asks me to pass on her thanks to you all for continuing to support Nasio and Makia with their education. And we do too, it wouldn’t be possible without you!

Thank you, and best wishes from us all.xxx

Happy holidays to Nasio Foundation supporters,

Time for our annual update already... this year has flown by so quickly! It was a big one for Laura because she made it back to Sierra Leone for the first time since 2013. It was so special to see FA and the family after so long. They are all doing well and were extremely happy to welcome Laura back!

The kids have changed so much, it was great to spend some time with them and catch up! I barely recognized Nasio as he is so tall! After finishing school, he is now undertaking an apprenticeship in welding to see if he likes it. The girls have grown so much too and are doing great!

As always, thank you for your support, donations and well wishes.

We wish you a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year in advance!

Lots of love from all of us.xxxxxx

Wishing all Nasio Foundation supporters a very Merry Christmas!

It has been a challenging but positive year in Sierra Leone as the country has started to recover from the Ebola outbreak. Life for FA and the family is returning to normal, and the kids are enjoying school again after missing almost a year during the outbreak. Nasio, who recently turned 15, is doing well and is currently exploring apprenticeship opportunities at a local aluminum workshop, as he is keen to learn how to do welding! Makia and Satu are doing very well too, and are absolutely loving school! With your support, they are both keen to continue.

We hope to get new photos to share early in the new year.

Your generosity is very important and greatly appreciated!  You can donate on this site by clicking on the "donate" button on the right side of the site, or by contacting Jason or Laura directly (jpsalituri@hotmail.com | floydi_2@hotmail.com)

We all greatly appreciate your generosity, and on behalf of FA and the entire family, we'd like to thank you for your continued support.

We hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year in advance!

Happy Holidays!!

Happy holidays to all Nasio Foundation supporters!  It has been a year of challenges for Sierra Leoneans because of the ebola outbreak.  Thankfully Sierra Leone was declared ebola free in November; Nasio, Makia, Satu and the rest of FA’s family are safe and not directly affected by ebola.

The kids are back in school!  Nasio is now 14 years old!  It’s hard to believe.  He is nearing a crossroads in his education where we hope to encourage him to continue learning, possibly in an apprenticeship or other type of training.  The girls – Makia and Satu are thriving and enjoying school immensely!

Thank you to all of you who have generously donated to support FA, Nasio, Makia and Satu. Despite the challenging situation in Sierra Leone, FA and the family are doing okay, and managing as best as they can. I have been sending them some of the funds raised through this foundation to ensure that they have enough food and clean drinking water - and FA has been asking me to express her thanks and appreciation to all of you who are contributing.

The Ebola virus is still spreading, and unlike neighbouring Liberia and Guinea, there is little sign of improvement. The schools are still closed, and sadly, there is little information about when they will reopen.

On a more positive note, Nasio just had his thirteenth birthday! As you can see, has really grown in the last year (unfortunately this picture quality isn't great).

Christmas is fast approaching and FA tells me that it will be a quiet one this year, spent at the compound instead of the beach. We hope to send out a little contribution to ensure that the family can enjoy the day together.

Thank you again for supporting FA and the kids - it really is a great help, especially at such a difficult time.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas,
From all of us.xx
